For those of you who have visited us in the past couple of years have seen the incredible space we get to share with several other projects, making up the 27 Social Centre. Recently, we’ve been able to expand into the front part of the building and the Denver Zine Library is excited to move up to the front space, shared with the Denver Community Health Collective (check them out here: http://www.denverhealthcollective.com/). What’s better than an afternoon massage and reading zines? I can’t think of anything either.
We’d love some extra help moving the DZL, especially since we have to bring everything outside and around the corner to access the new entrance to our space. If you have some time, even 30 minutes, please come by between 11am and 3pm on Sunday, July 15. We’ll be moving boxes, shelves and our other furniture. It might take us a week or two to start getting settled, so please be patient while we get the zines back on the shelves.

The monthly Secret Café benefits the 27 Social Centre, a radical community space committed to providing Denver with a location for our organizations, meetings, classes, art, music, history, libraries and much more. Several organizations call the Centre home, including the Denver Zine Library, Sent(a)mental Studios, the IWW, Bread and Roses, Backroom Editions, the Denver Community Health Collective, Denver ABC, Build Up Books and P&L Printing.

Haven’t you always wanted to learn how to make a zine? Are your ideas ready to go on paper? Well, here’s your chance! Check out this 3-hour workshop to learn about zines, check out different styles and formats, and get started on your very own! As you know we had a hugely successful online fundraiser last February, raising over $3,500! We finally filled the perks for our generous donors and have some brand designs for DZL t-shirts and tote bags. They’re $10 each and we currently have t-shirts in size S, M, L, XL and 2XL.

Do you have a few hours to spare once a month? The Denver Zine Library is looking for volunteers! Help keep the DZL open on weekends, learn how to catalog donated zines in our database, plan a fundraiser, or bring your ideas! E-mail denverzinelibrary@gmail.com to set up a 30-minute orientation.

The Denver Zine Library is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am-3pm at the 27 Social Centre (2727 W. 27th Avenue). After July 15, we’ll be located through the street entrance with the door marked 2727! Come check us out, read some zines on our comfy couch and borrow some zines to read at home!
